Gol Gappay Recipe in Urdu


Welcome back viewers, we are here again with you guys and one more very tasty, yummy, mouthwatering, delicious, chatpatti and one of my favorite recipe that is Gol Gappay recipe. This is one of the best snack of Pakistani food because of its irresistible sour and spicy taste. The other name of Gol Gappay is Pani Puri and it’s almost everyone’s favorite. Basically its indo/pak dish andserved as a snack or chat as well. You can find it on the road side, food carts or some restaurants. It’s really great to have it in any season.

These gol gappay are served with the chickpeas, chopped onion, boiled potatoes and date and tamarind chuttnies. Its making at home is very easy and its every dip in the sour water makes it tastier. Here we are sharing Gol Gappay Recipe in Urdu with you guys, so that you could make it easily at your home and enjoy the party.


For Gol Gappay:
  • Semolina                   ½ cup
  • Plain flour                  ½ tablespoon
  • Soda                           ½ tablespoon
  • Salt                             as per taste
  • Oil                               for deep frying
  • White lentil                2 tablespoon
For Filling:
  • Potatoes (boiled)      1 cup
  • Chickpea (boiled)     1 cup
For Sour Water:
  • Tamarind pulp          1 cup
  • Water                         2 jugs
  • Cumin powder          1 tablespoon
  • Red chili powder      1 tablespoon
  • Tartri                           1 tablespoon
  • Dry ginger                  1 tablespoon
  • Salt                             as per taste
  • Black cumin              1 tablespoon
  • Lemon juice              3 tablespoon
  • Mint leaves                ½ bunch

Cooking Directions:

For Sour Water:

Put mint leaves, lemon juice, black cumin, dry ginger, salt, tartri, red chili powder, cumin powder, tamarind pulp and water in a blender. Mix them well till water is spicy and tangy. Keep that water in a refrigerator or use ice cubes to serve.

For gol gappay:
  1. Mix white lentil, semolina, flour, salt and soda knead to make a stiff dough.
  2. Leave it for 30 minutes aside.
  3. Utilize these 30 minutes to make the sour water that will save your time.
  4. Knead it one more time after 30 minutes.
  5. Make small size balls and use little oil in your hand. Roll them out into puri form with rolling pin.
  6. Put these onto the layer of wet cloth piece for 10 minutes.
  7. Deep fry on medium heat and press it lightly just like puri to rise up. Fry till crispy

Shashlik Rice

For filling:

Boil potatoes and chickpeas separately and set aside for getting cool. Mix them in a bowl and you can add chat masala if you like to make it spicier.

  • Puncture the gol gappa with the tip of your thumb and fill it with 1 tablespoon of chickpeas and potatoes mixture and top it with sour water.
  • You can also use chopped onion and tomatoes in serving.
